The Foundation Of NTT Global Data Centers

Bringing building blocks together into a one-stop-shop

NTT Global Data Centers is built on a strong foundation of strategic acquisitions, including RagingWire (US), Gyron (UK), and e-shelter (Germany). Several NTT Communications facilities across APAC also served as core building blocks in shaping the global portfolio of NTT GDC.

Gyron

In 2012, NTT purchased 85 percent of UK data services provider Gyron Internet Limited. Already providing colocation and connectivity services to major companies like Adobe and Spotify, Gyron helped strengthen NTT’s cloud-based solutions in the UK—specifically in London, one of the most active colocation systems in the world—and accelerated growth of its own global cloud services.

Netmagic

In 2012, NTT acquired a 74 percent stake in Netmagic Solutions, a leading provider of data center services in India. At the time, Netmagic managed seven data centers in major Indian cities and provided colocation and managed hosting to more than 1,000 customers (plus ISP and cloud services to many others). In 2018, Netmagic began construction of two additional sites with a combined total of 550,000 square feet of additional data center space.

Raging Wire

In 2014, NTT bought 80 percent of US-based RagingWire, a pioneer in colocation services. This 350 million USD investment more than doubled the company’s US data center presence, and in 2018, the newly formed NTT Global Data Centers acquired the remaining 20 percent of the business. Offering over 1.5 million square feet of data center space in the United States with three million additional square feet in active development, RagingWire delivered large-scale, build-to-suit wholesale data center solutions as well as private vaults, dedicated cages, and multi-rack deployments.

e-shelter

In 2015, NTT acquired 86.7 percent of data center provider e-shelter, one of Germany’s largest data center operators. This 840 million USD cash investment resulted in NTT’s becoming the third largest data center operator in Europe and managing Europe’s then-largest data center in Frankfurt. Between e-shelter’s German sites and its data centers in Switzerland and Austria, this acquisition added 775,000 square feet of data center space to the NTT portfolio.

NTT Communications

NTT Communications’ APAC data centers—which are strategically located in key Asian markets, including Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam—offer a comprehensive range of services, including colocation, managed hosting, and cloud services.
