Two years after launching the Bugatti Tourbillon and a year after its Baguette edition, Jacob & Co. pushes the collection further with a case carved entirely from solid sapphire crystal. Every external component from the caseback and caseband to the upper bezel begins as a raw block of corundum, painstakingly cut, drilled, and polished over more than 800 hours per case. Ranking nine on the Mohs scale, sapphire’s extreme hardness makes it scratch-resistant but brutally difficult to machine.
Measuring 54mm x 44mm, the watch renders the Bugatti Tourbillon’s signature silhouette with the side windows, horseshoe grille, and tail-light grid, all fully see-through, exposing the miniature V16 engine block automaton at its heart. Carved from a single sapphire block with 16 drilled cylinders and titanium pistons, the automaton runs through 20 animation sequences per pusher press, driven by Caliber JCAM55’s 30-second flying tourbillon—the fastest Jacob & Co. has built.
The dial mirrors a dashboard layout, with retrograde hour and minute hands echoing an RPM counter and a dedicated subdial tracking both movement and automaton power reserve. The first series comprises two unique pieces, in Jacob & Co.’s signature green and Jacob Arabo’s favored baby blue, priced at 1.2 million USD each.
