To mark its 20th anniversary, MB&F has reimagined one of its most coveted creations, the Legacy Machine 101, through the dynamic lens of the EVO series. The result is the LM101 EVO, a timepiece that fuses MB&F’s classical homage to 19th-century horology with the resilience and design codes of modern high-performance watchmaking.
First launched in 2014, the LM101 distilled watchmaking to its essentials: a monumental 14mm “flying” balance wheel, the steady heartbeat of the movement; a power reserve indicator; and the hours and minutes. In the EVO edition, these fundamentals are elevated. Housed in a 40mm titanium case equipped with the proprietary FlexRing shock absorber, screw-down crown, and water resistance to 80 meters, the LM101 EVO is designed not only to be admired but to be lived with.
Two striking dial plate options—salmon or peacock green, achieved by chemical vapor deposition—lend contemporary vibrancy. The green edition in particular shifts with light, revealing hues of blue and purple. Above the dial, twin arches suspend the balance wheel in a spectacle of engineering and artistry while the subdials hover weightlessly. Enhancements include a longer 60-hour power reserve, newly refined white gold hands, and darkened NAC-treated bridges, which add a modern, sport-driven aesthetic.
True to MB&F’s ethos, every detail remains hand-finished to haute horlogerie standards under the guidance of Kari Voutilainen: Geneva waves, polished bevels, blued screws, and gold chatons. Limited by craft rather than declaration, only a few dozen pieces can be produced each year.
The LM101 EVO is not just an evolution but a tribute to MB&F’s journey—a laboratory of mechanical art that continues to redefine how time can be seen, worn, and experienced.rs a masterpiece that reminds us that mystery is not always to be solved, but to be savored.
