The True Impact Of Digital Access

It’s not just about data—it’s about the lives we connect.

Trans Americas Fiber System (TAFS) was established with a clear vision: renewing aging connectivity across the Americas, reducing the digital divide, and promoting digital inclusion through equitable access.

Thus, TAM-1 was born in 2023. The new 7,000+ km submarine fiber optic cable system—designed to enhance digital connectivity between Florida, Central America, and the Caribbean—is now beginning commercial operation, and TAFS already has plans to expand the system from Panama to Pacific South America.

Here’s how TAM-1 and TAFS are making a splash in the world of capacity, connectivity, and access across the Americas.

ENABLING THE NEXT WAVE OF DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY

In order to improve international connectivity across the region, support growing demand for data, cloud services, and streaming, and provide redundant routes to keep networks stable even if one link fails, TAFS needed to find a path to a high-capacity, low-latency, and resilient telecommunications network that meets today’s demands while being built to scale for the technologies of tomorrow.
