Alex Johnson

As Vice President of Google Data Centers, Alex Johnson leads Google data centers worldwide. He launched his digital infrastructure career in the mid-1990s and later founded MatrixCM, a facilities and construction management consulting firm, where he spent over ten years delivering cutting-edge solutions for energy, data center, modular, and commercial clients. Johnson’s extensive experience from ground-up design to operation provided a deep understanding of data center needs.

In 2014, he joined Facebook (now Meta) as Global Construction Manager of Data Center Construction before advancing to Director of Data Center Design, Engineering, and Construction in 2016 and then to Vice President of Data Center Design, Engineering, and Construction in 2021. In this role, he drove efforts to develop innovative solutions that reduce the carbon footprint and energy consumption of the average data center. In March 2025, after 11 years at Meta, Johnson transitioned to Google, where he is focused on rethinking and adapting programs to meet the evolving demands of AI and high-performance computing.
