Lex Coors

Recognized as the “spiritual father” of modular data center design and improved power-ratio efficiency between server and transformer load, Lex Coors is a prominent leader in sustainable data center infrastructure. This pioneering approach to data center design and management, introduced during his tenure at Interxion (now part of Digital Realty), set a standard for scalable, cost-effective, and energy-efficient data centers and significantly influenced industry norms. Today, in addition to his role as Chief Data Center Technology and Engineering Officer at Digital Realty, he continues to advocate for sustainability as President of the European Data Centre Association and a member of three environmentally-focused initiatives: the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact (which targets carbon neutrality by 2030), the European Union’s small modular reactor workgroup, and the Hydrogen Alliance (which focuses on sustainable power solutions). With this commitment to sustainability and innovation, Coors has earned numerous accolades, including the iMasons’ Technology Champion award.

In addition to his industry contributions, Coors serves as a visiting professor at the University of East London, where he shares his insights on sustainability and energy efficiency in digital infrastructure. He also published the book We Are AI: Embracing Human-AI Synergy, which emphasizes the risks associated with unchecked advancements in AI systems.
