InterGlobix Magazine’s Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Jasmine Bedi, sat down with Trey Willis to discuss how Connectbase has engineered The Connected World to solve for the “who has what, where, and in what context” requirement for connected commerce. He also touches on what the platform’s numbers tell him now and where he would like to refine the platform in the future.
Ben Edmond discussed how connected commerce is changing in the age of AI. What do these shifts look like from an engineering perspective, and what does that context mean in practice?
Every era of connectivity has asked a different question of location data, and each time the industry has answered the old question well and been caught out by the new one. The broadband era wanted coverage: Can this address get service, yes or no? The enterprise era wanted serviceability, which is harder, because now you care which provider, which medium, and what it costs.
Both of these connectivity questions are about a single point in space. The AI era broke that frame. An AI buyer isn’t asking about a point. They’re asking about a relationship between two points, and about the ground in between. Can I reach this campus? Can I reach it twice, on paths that don’t share a trench? What’s the latency, not on average but deterministically? And when will it actually be live—because a route that arrives four months after the GPUs is worth nothing?
That is what context means in practice, and the industry has underestimated how much of it the new buyers demand. Interval used to be a footnote in a quote. Now it’s a selection criterion.
