Informal Interactions with Gabriel Holgado and Jaime Goldenberg

Outside of the valuable partnerships and relationships you build within the context of your work, how do you make time for yourself and the other important relationships in your lives?

Exploring new places
Hitting the slopes
Taking a helicopter tour for a different perspective

[GH] I try to be very intentional about my free time. After all, life is a journey, and we must try to enjoy it. My family is at the center of that. Even though we are geographically spread out—my son is in Buenos Aires, Argentina; my daughter is in Madrid, Spain; and my partner and I are in Miami, Florida—we make a conscious effort to stay close and be really, truly present when we’re together. The same goes for my circle of friends. Beyond the other people in my life, I would say travel is very important to me. I like to discover new places and different cultural perspectives. Spending time in nature is another activity that helps me disconnect from my work and regain energy to make better decisions.

Soaking up the sites
Sharing special moments together
Spending time with mom
Relaxing at the restaurant

[JG] What really matters and is important above all is my family—my mom, my wife, and my son. I always say it’s not about the amount of time we spend together but the quality of that time. So, when we have the chance to be together, I give it my full energy and attention. For instance, my wife loves bird photography, so my second job is bird photographer supporter and supplies carrier. I also own a restaurant in Costa Rica, so I try to enjoy my time with seafood and wine.
