Chris Malone

Chris Malone is a leading figure in data centers and AI infrastructure. Currently Head of Data Centers at OpenAI, he leads the design, construction, and operation of the world’s most advanced AI compute infrastructure supporting next-generation models and research at unprecedented scale. Before OpenAI, Malone held senior engineering roles at Meta, Google, and Hewlett-Packard, where he led innovations in data center infrastructure and IT hardware. At Meta, he led the company’s shift to an AI-first data center architecture and enabled large-scale training and inference systems. At Google, he oversaw innovations in data center power and cooling and led the development of multiple generations of data center designs. At HP, he addressed thermal challenges at the chip, system, and data center levels.
